Beaches of Barcelona

Second largest city of Spain, Barcelona, is situated on the coast of Mediterranean sea. Therefore, there are a number of beautiful beaches gifted by the nature. If you think about two decades back, beaches of Barcelona were not considered as good ones due to pollution.

But now the things have changed and the Beaches of Barcelona are attracting a huge number of tourists from across the world.

Things started changing around 1990s when the city was preparing hard for 1992 Olympic. Massive operations for cleaning up the beaches were started and the results were proven good.

After the Olympics, the authorities decided to continue the operation but in a different way. Now they take care of sand and water both, as for as cleanliness is concerned. There are a good number of beautiful and attractive beaches in the city itself. Let us have a look on Beaches of Barcelona one by one.

Nova Icaria
It is among those Beaches of Barcelona which are close to Olympic marina. It remains crowed across the year due to golden sand and soothing wind flow. If you want to have some breakfast, there are few restaurants very close to beach. Apart from these, there are several beach bars to enhance the joy of visitors.

Bogatell
It is almost twice as compare to length of Nova Icaria and offers a great environment for the visitors. There is a walkway of stone which is not only perfect for cycling but also for jogging. Main feature of Bogatell, which makes it unique among Beaches of Barcelona, is its atmosphere which provides soothe to the minds of visitors. Contrary to Nova Icaria, there is not a single beach bar here but few restaurants are available to fulfill the demands of tourists.

Mar Bell
It is considered as the only naturist one among the Beaches of Barcelona with the surroundings of a beautiful hillock. Apart from this, there is park which is not very far from the beach and that is popular among the visitors for picnic.
