Bengali marriages are celebrated in a very grand way and the cloths, accessories and other things related to marriage are very gorgeous and that’s why Calcutta-wedding is very much famous in India. In an occasion like marriage, the whole surroundings of a marriage-house become very joyful and noisy.

Continuing the discussion about Calcutta-wedding, we further add that after the initial stages the main part of marriage takes place. The ritual called ‘Beeye’ is arranged and organized by the bride’s family. The ritual called ‘beeye’ is considered to be a very holy thing which is done with the Sanskrit Mantras by the Hindu pundit.

In Hindu marriages, paper works are done mostly after the beeye and everybody then celebrates the union with the grand feast. ‘Basar-raat’ also takes place at bride’s house. Hindu Bengali marriages, which represent the Calcutta-wedding, mostly happen in the evening. On the very next day, the couple starts their journey towards the groom’s home.

Apart from the Bengalis, many people belong to other religion also live at kolkata and their wedding is also celebrated in their own way but the Bengali marriage has made the Calcutta-wedding more popular.
