Culture In Darjeeling

Darjeeling is a hill station in the state of West Bengal in India. It is a picturesque place that is frequented by a large number of tourists from all over the world all around the year. Darjeeling originated from a cluster of a few villages that were administered on an intermittent basis by both Sikkim and also Nepal. As a result, the Darjeeling culture has a humble start.

This has given rise to a rich cultural glory of Darjeeling. Darjeeling made its presence felt in the world during the 19th century. This was the time it was recognized by British imperialists to be an ideal region for growing tea plantations. It was later annexed as a part of the British Indian Empire. A tiny railway line was constructed in the year 1881 to boost the town’s growth and the prosperity.

This train passes through the tea gardens and beautiful hills and takes an elevation to 7000 feet.
