Even for adults or older children, one should take the precaution of carrying medicines for common ailments like fever, stomach upset, headache, vomiting, cuts, bruises, etc.
If one is driving, what is very important is to take a good set of driving maps, preferably in duplicate, which give important landmarks and locations of important places like motels, post offices, chemists, gasoline pumps, etc.
It is always better and safer to drive during the day and rest at night-more so, when wife and children are traveling; this way one can also guard against rash or drunken driving from fellow motorists. Travel tips could be sometimes blessing in disguise.
