Jerusalem is the birthplace of three religions and is steeped in history. Situated in Judea hills, the city was established around 3000 years ago by King David. This is a place where the old mixes with the new and the secular with the most fanatic.
At this point, it’s deeply divided between the Palestinians and the Israelis. Travel to Jerusalem to see the old walled city which comprised the entire city till the late 1800’s still has the Muslim, Jewish, Christian and the Armenian quarters.
Travel to Jerusalem and get inside the narrow streets you would find shops selling all kinds of stuff. Within this place is located the Western Wall, Via Dolorosa where Christ is believed to have walked and the Dome of Rock and the Al-Aqsa mosque.
There are many industries located in the city that include diamond cutting and polishing shoes, textiles etc. But the major revenue earner for the city is the tourism industry.
While Jerusalem is a pretty religious city, it’s also has a vibrant night life and shopping arcades that are included in Jerusalem tourist attractions. |
