Beaches In Phuket

Phuket is famed the world over for its sandy beaches and clear water. Sand beaches in Phuket actually take up a large part of the island’s coastline.

When you think of beaches in Phuket, Patong beach is probably the most famous, although it may not be for everyone. Patong beach has a lot of activities going on along its length, though it is now infamous for its nightlife, with plenty of restaurants and bars for those wanting to make it a long night. For those visiting during the day it is not uncommon for people to hire jet-skis or take a ride on a banana boat.

One of the best beaches in Phuket is Karon beach, and is far less busy than Patong. This though is due to the length of the beach rather than any lack of popularity. Karon beach is made up bright white sand, and just away from the beach itself is some good reasonably priced restaurants and shopping outlets.

One of the best beaches in Phuket for families and surfers is Kata beach. Kata beach is much more family orientated and there is less raucous night activity to disturb the family fun. There is still plenty to do though and there are pleasant restaurant in which to eat a meal or two.

Bang Tao beach may be one of the less well known beaches in Phuket but it well worth a visit. Get there early in the morning and you can have the whole length of the beach to yourself, aside from a few fishermen and a few birds. There are plenty of resorts nearby and yet the unspoilt nature of the beach has not yet been spoilt.

There are many other Phuket beaches, including, Kata Noi, Surin and Pansea. One of the best beaches in Phuket though is another family orientated one, that of Kamala beach. Kamala beach is a more laid back venue, where snorkelling is the favourite pastime, alongside sunbathing. The slower pace is not for all, but those people wishing to get away from the crowds of other Phuket beaches could do worse than give it a try.

There are some Phuket beaches though which stand out from others, but if you have the time the lesser well-known ones are well worth a visit, especially as you will feel a lot less crowded than you do on the tourist favourites.
